2017 ARRL Field Day

rcfd_001[1]

D.E.A.R.S. will once again be participating in the ARRL Field Day Event happening on Saturday, June 24 – Sunday June 25.

All Disney Cast Members and anyone visiting Walt Disney World this weekend with an interest in amateur radio is invited to attend.

Our location will be on the field behind Reedy Creek Fire Station #4. This is across from Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort close to Disney Springs.

We should arrive at the field sometime between 9:00 and 10:00 am.

We would love to see everyone come and participate. Bring whatever radios, antennas and other equipment you think you might need to enjoy this event. Stay overnight if you dare! I know a few of us are planning to stay overnight if weather is favorable.

Due to the recent rains, the field has been extremely wet. Therefore, RCID has notified us that we will not be allowed to park any vehicles on the field. We will need to park our vehicles at the shack. We will be able to take our radios and antennas to the field.

We will be providing a picnic dinner for the whole family. Bring everyone around 5:00 pm on Saturday. We are planning to eat about 6:00 pm. The Club will be providing the hamburgers, hot dogs, condiments, buns, potato salad and baked beans. We will also bottled water.

We are asking everyone to bring a side dish, chips or soda if possible to round out our meal. Ken said he will also be bringing some lasagna!! Yum!!

Invite any friends and family you know who may be interested in learning more about ham radio. We would like to showcase the fun and excitement of our hobby.

I hope to see everyone there!!
